PROTAGONISTS
We are a team - Nina, Michael and SERENDIPITY IV.
All three of us have to work well together and trust each other.
NINA & MICHAEL
We met on a sailing boat in 2011. We didn't look for each other, but a serendipitious moment brought us together.
Since then we have spent a lot of time at and on the water. We can't remember exactly who came up with the idea of taking a break, selling our house in Switzerland to live and travel on a sailing boat for an indefinite period of time.
We are grateful that we made this decision and are able to enjoy this adventure together.
GALLEY
If we are preparing for a longer passage or plan to stay at anchor for a longer period, good provisions are important for the well-being of the crew. On the one hand, you need a solid stock of basic foods, and on the other hand, they have to be easy to store. Space is limited on a sailing yacht. Since food and water (as well as spare parts) take up the most space in our cupboards, but goodies shouldn't be neglected either, careful storage and an inventory list are essential.
ON-BOARD LIBRARY
Our on-board library contains a variety of specialist books which we consult again and again or simply browse through. The basis are the so-called pilots, with whom we plan passages and locate ports and anchorages. We also have older but still useful manuals about the oceans, books about meteorology, storm tactics, medicine at sea, etc.
In the following section we will introduce you to a small selection which we are continually adding to. Let us know if you want to read about a specific topic.
